Description

View a film of Chiusarella here    CHIUSARELLA

Set jewel like into the slopes of a small hill within the vast Estate of Arceno, a one thousand hectare nature reserve, is Chiusarella, once the home of those who worked the land for the landlord whose seat was the nearby Villa Arceno built in 1671.

Chiusarella has been renovated to high standards and, with modern conveniences, is now the preserve of those who wish to enjoy the relaxing calm of the Chianti countryside in luxury and comfort, ideal for family groups, or friends' get-togethers.

Overlooking the walled medieval village of San Gusmè, Chiusarella boasts a large patio area perfect for the 'aperitivo al fresco' before dinner at a long wooden table under the extensive porch.  Lunch can be taken either here, shaded from the heat of the midday sun, or at the poolside patio.

Four double bedrooms three with en-suite bathrooms and one with its own allocated bathroom allow for privacy and each has outstanding views over the hills dotted with vineyards and olive groves.

The house is built in traditional 'Tuscan' style in stone with brick surrounds in doorways and openings. Chestnut beams, terracotta ceilings and floors complete the scene. Elegantly and tastefully decorated and furnished, the house is light and airy.  For chilly nights there are a television room, living room and kitchen all with open fireplaces to cosy up to.

Around the house are many seating areas from which to enjoy views in all directions from looking over the medieval village of San Gusmè beyond the unending views over the Chianti towards Siena and to the South 'Le Crete', the famous Tuscan Hills beloved of photographers and artists (a UNESCO world heritage site).  The West facing rear terrace has the sun until the evening, and is the perfect spot for dinner with a sunset view.

The extensive garden features many original artworks, along with the plantings of rosemary, sage and thyme.

High above the house is an 'infinity' swimming pool, along with an 'annesso' (annex) with bathroom changing room, kitchen, huge patio and even more stunning vistas. With plenty of seating this private paradise allows for days of complete relaxation around the pool.  For talented chefs there is scope to practice their culinary arts over hot coals, on one of the two large wood fired barbecues.  The Villa boasts its own herb garden, for chefs who like to pick garden fresh herbs for their culinary creations.

Surrounded by the forest, one hears almost nothing but the sounds of wildlife and the occasional farm dog or cockerel.  Binoculars and cameras are a must for spotting birds, deer, porcupines and more!

CHIUSARELLA

Upon researching online for a Tuscan villa, I came across Chiusarella. I was very pleased with the extra concierge services that the property offered - Anna and Gaia could not have been more helpful. Through them we were able to arrange pick up from the airport, and for some others in our group from Siena. Gaia also assisted in booking dinner reservations, as well as winery tours and tastings. She made sure we had enough bottled water, wines, and anything else we requested during our stay. The villa itself is so well-stocked with kitchen appliances, we didn't miss anything. A highlight of the trip was the cooking experience Gaia had arranged for us with chef Andrea - it was excellent! The property itself is magnificent. The pictures do not do it justice! There were lemons and limes and fresh herbs - a gardeners dream. It is the perfect location for a large group getaway. Gaia helped us arrange two days of travel in the Tuscan region (Alessandro, our driver was the best). Our last day was spent just on the property enjoying the pool and incredible views. Everyone raved about the beds and linens which were great quality. Nighttime was quiet and peaceful. Overall, this was truly an amazing experience that everyone enjoyed. Thanks to Anna and Gaia for everything!

Another Month in Paradise

This was our second stay at Chiusarella and though we didn’t think it possible, it was even better than the first. The property has been maintained with great care and the management was as helpful and gracious as we could have hoped for. The private Arceno Estate on which the villa is situated is a unique and special oasis in the heart of Tuscany. While the authentic local restaurants and numerous places of interest make Chiusarella a perfect home base for exploring the region, some of our favorite days and evenings were the ones when we never left the estate. We highly recommend this property and will be back in 2019!

Great home, great stay and great service.

We were in Chusarella this year in July (8 people). We are delighted with our stay, we rate it on 10 points on a ten-point scale. Everything was perfect, the house enchanted us with its location and equipment. The pool on the hill overlooking the vineyards is sensational. We are very demanding clients, but this stay met all our requirements, it was even better than we expected. Now, after staying in Chusarellla, it will be difficult for us to find something at a similar level for next trips. Anna, our concierge, helped us a lot, the first day filled our fridge with food and brought us water and wine. I am convinced that we will come back here again. I highly recommend.

Outstanding!

From the moment we arrived we knew we would want to return. Idyllic, beautiful villa, the views from the private pool area are stunning. Miles of private roads for running (hilly!); we drove to restaurants until we discovered the little track to San Gusme which offers great restaurants 10 minutes walk away. Anna looked after us beautifully and replenished our wine stores. We absolutely loved this place.

Family Spring Break

We recently spent time at the Villa. There were 7 of us of which two were teen age boys. The Villa is well equipped in all areas. The kitchen is big and easy for a large group to enjoy. Gaia Mini the concierge was extremely helpful and did a great job while we were there. She helped arrange a cooking class at the Villa that was great fun and they did a wonderful job of including the two teenage boys as well as the entire group. The Villa is large enough to allow for plenty of space with nice outdoor areas. The welcome package and supply of wine was terrific as well.

Traumhaftes Toskana Feeling

Amazing property in a picture perfect location.Beautiful historic stone house with modern amenities

Our family recently stayed two weeks at Chiusarella and it was an experience we will never forget. The entire property is truly amazing! The historic stone house is set in a picturesque location surrounded by vineyards and olive trees as one would expect in the Tuscan countryside. The home is beautifully renovated on the inside with all the modern amenities one could want. Beautiful kitchen, countless rooms, and Wi-Fi throughout. The layout of the home works well for a single-family or multiple. Many indoor and outdoor places to get together or to sneak away and relax alone with an espresso or glass of wine and a good book. The gorgeous infinity pool is set apart from the main house with a fabulous well-equipped pool house and unbelievable views of the surrounding countryside and nearby medieval town of San Gusme which is just a short drive or walk from the house. There you can find several fabulous restaurants, a small store, gelateria and a post office. The location is perfect! Just remote enough to feel like you are away from it all, although just minutes from several Tuscan hillside towns, restaurants and castles, and minutes away from Siena. We are so grateful for the hospitality provided by Arceno Rentals throughout our stay. The attention to detail including a welcome basket of gourmet food and wine was much appreciated. The endless supply of amazing house wine was a very nice touch as well. Traveling in a foreign country with small children can be daunting. We are extremely grateful to Gaia, concierge for the property, for helping us with reservations and arrangements, advice for daytrip's, and everything in between. In a word, spectacular! Without a doubt, we will return to Chiusarella with our family. We have been home for two weeks and miss it already…

Fantastic experience

We loved our stay. Beautiful location, fantastic views, and perfect house!! The pool was awesome and everything was just like it was described!! The 5 stars is double for the concierge service!! Gaia went so far over and above what she needed to I can even begin to thank her enough. She bailed us out of little issues over and over again. I can't recommend this place highly enough, perfect Tuscan Villa!!

Wonderful escape in the TUSCAN hills

Wonderful escape in the Tuscan hills 5 of 5 From the moment we saw the photographs and then details of our stay from the hosts, we hoped Chiusarella would be special and we weren't let down. We were greeted at the property and shown around the house and grounds and really, nothing had been to left to chance. From the large pristine kitchen to the well presented bedrooms and bathrooms, the house is a 5 star treat. The walk up to the pool, although steep, took us to the most amazing views of all. Trust us, looking at the view from the poolside with a cool drink never gets old. A welcome basket and wine was a lovely touch to see us through our first weekend, the supermarkets are relatively close and well stocked, and the tiny village of San Gusmé is just a short walk through the woods. (don't wear open shoes though...it's very rocky!) The onsite phone was a great touch meaning help was never far away. The wood burning barbecues take a bit of getting used to but cook up a storm once mastered. The wifi meant we could always get online and board games meant we never got bored. We enjoyed the wine and bar too.... We'll be back - amazing property and an amazing estate!
